Medications for Hyperhidrosis Treatment

There used the following hyperhidrosis medications:

Botulinum toxin type A is a neurotoxin that reduces the release of acetylcholine from the sympathetic nerve fibers that innervate the sweat glands. When injected into the skin of the armpits, palms or foot, botulinum toxin suppresses perspiration for about 8-12 months. Only one procedure is needed to treat sweating with botulinum toxin. The procedure takes no more than 30 minutes in duration. Botulinum toxin of group A carefully and for a long time blocks muscle impulses, forcing the sweat glands to produce a natural secretion: sweating is reduced to a minimum; no negative impact on the body; the skin stays dry even in the most exciting moments.

The use of a 20% solution of aluminum chloride hexahydrate in pure ethyl alcohol is indicated for external therapy of excessive sweating in the armpits, on the skin of the palms and foot; these drugs are available with a prescription. The solution precipitates salts blocking the channels. At first, several applications are required during the week to achieve control of the state, then they switch to a maintenance mode, which consists in applying the drug 1-2 times a week. This solution should not be applied to inflamed, damaged, damp skin.

The following drugs are also used to treat excess sweating:

Botox, Dysport and Relatox drugs are used to treat excessive sweating. Let’s take a closer look at each of them:

• Botox. A drug that the doctor injects under the skin with a very thin needle. During the procedure, you will hardly feel any pain. The procedure itself takes no more than an hour. The effect can last for about 6-8 months. During this time, you will not be bothered by the smell of sweating. You will see the result already within 1-4 days. The technique is universal, and saves not only armpits from hyperhidrosis, but also the face, palms and feet.
• Dysport is an analog of Botox. In fact, it has an identical composition, but the manufacturers of these two drugs are different. The effect after Dysport injection in our center lasts about 8 months on average.
• Relatox is another analog of Botox. The means appeared on the market not so long ago, but it is very actively used by our medical specialists. The result of the procedure using Relatox is from 6 months to a year. The drug has several contraindications: hypersensitivity, increased weakness, exacerbation of infections, pregnancy and lactation, recent surgery.
